30th DVPW Convention, 7–10 September 2027, Leipzig University
The DVPW calls for proposals for ten roundtables. The roundtables should address issues of relevance for political science and society alike that are related to the convention theme. We are inviting innovative formats that enable open and interactive discussion of core questions in political science. The roundtable sessions will take place in slots of 90 minutes each.
The convention seeks to do justice to the diversity of our members regarding career stages and gender, and it aims at facilitating exchange across universities. The Programme Committee will therefore take these criteria into account when selecting the sessions.
The criteria for submitting proposals for roundtable sessions are:
Each roundtable is jointly organized by at least two DVPW groups, at least one of which must be a section (Sektion). Each DVPW group can submit a maximum of two proposals for roundtables and appoints for each proposed roundtable one person as organizer. Each person can act only twice as organizer of a roundtable.
Roundtable proposals can take different formats, for example: ‘classic’ roundtables with invited panellists, presentations/lectures with invited comments, world café, etc.
Each proposal must contain a title and an abstract of the roundtable, detailing its substance and format (300-500 words) as well as a list of participants and their roles.
Roundtables can be held in English or German, but the language needs to be consistent throughout each individual session.
Each person can propose a maximum of two contributions to roundtables at the convention.
We welcome participants from abroad. There will be the opportunity for panel chairs to apply for subsidies towards travel expenses by the German Research Foundation (DFG) through the DVPW. There are no further funds available to cover the travel expenses of guests invited to the roundtables. Roundtable guests from outside the field of political science are not required to pay the convention fee.
Please submit your proposals by 31 October 2026, via the portal meineDVPW. The Programme Committee is expected to communicate its decision about submissions by the end of this year.
