The department of Political Science at the University of Innsbruck invites applications for the position of a

Researcher

(part-time, 65% / 26 hours)

starting 01.04.2021 for two years (with a possible extension of one year subject to appropriation of further funds).

The successful candidate will work in the project “Can a woman do the job? Introducing a gender perspective on legislative oversight”, funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. Using a mixed-methods design, the project team will investigate whether parliamentarians monitor women ministers differently than men. Tasks: The successful candidate will

  • Contribute to the realization of the project "Can a woman do the job?".
  • Gather qualitative and quantitative data for the project, including semi-structured interviews with parliamentarians in Austria, Spain and the UK.

Candidates are explicitly invited to pursue a PhD, preferably engaging with a topic linked to the project.

Compensation according to the Collective Agreement amounts to 1931,45 € gross/ month. Subject to demand by the department, there is the possibility of accepting an additionally remunerated teaching contract in the field of political science teaching.

Prerequisites:

  • Master degree in Social Science (or comparable degree)
  • Familiarity with the project topic or related areas of Comparative Politics
  • Experience in conducting empirical research projects in the Social Sciences
  • Very good knowledge of German and English (speaking and writing)
  • Basic knowledge of Spanish is an advantage, or alternatively, willingness to learn these languages
  • Self-sufficient working style, ability to think analytically and to work in teams
