At the University of Greifswald’s Department of Political Science and Communication Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, there is a job vacancy expected to be available from 01 April 2022, subject to the provision of funds, for a part-time (65%)

Research Assistant.

The position on offer is limited to a period of 24 months. Payment will be made according to pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft.

The successful candidate will work in the project “Can a woman do the job? Introducing a gender perspective on legislative oversight”, funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. Using a mixed-methods design, the project team will investigate whether parliamentarians treat female ministers differently to their male counterparts. And if so, to what extent, why, and under which conditions. More information on the project can be found here:

Job description:

  • Active participation in the realisation of the project "Can a woman do the job?"
  • Collection of qualitative and quantitative data for the project, including semi-structured interviews with parliamentarians in Germany, Belgium and Denmark.

Candidates are explicitly invited to pursue a doctoral degree, preferably engaging with a topic linked to the project.

Job requirements:


  • Master’s degree (or comparable) in social science
  • Familiarity with the project topic or related areas of comparative politics
  • Experience in conducting empirical research projects in the social sciences
  • Very good command of written and spoken German and English
  • Ability to work independently, think analytically and work in teams


  • basic knowledge of French or Danish or alternatively, willingness to learn these languages

The position is open to all persons, irrespective of gender.
