The Institute of Political Studies (IEP) invites applications for a doctoral student position in the Laboratory for the Analysis of Governance and Public Action in Europe (LAGAPE) In the framework of an SNF (Swiss National Science Foundation) project on the political role of electronic data protection authorities, entitled "Empowered but Challenged?".

Job information

Starting date: 01.03.2022 (or to be agreed)

Duration of the contract: 1 year, renewable, maximum 4 years.

Rate: 100%.

Workplace: Lausanne-Dorigny, Géopolis

Your responsibilities

  • The PhD Student will be in charge of writing a doctoral thesis as part of this research project.
  • He or she will also be responsible for participating in the collection, coding and analysis of data. On this basis, he or she will write individual and collective publications and participate in conferences in Switzerland and abroad.
  • In addition, he/she will co-participate in the organisation of scientific events (conferences, workshops, etc.) and in the activities of the research unit.

Your qualifications

  • Master's degree in political science, public administration, or equivalent.
  • Excellent command of English and German, ability to work in a French-speaking environment.
  • Interest in public policy and/or regulatory policy, especially from a comparative perspective.
  • Qualitative methods skills (e.g. interviewing).
  • Proven research and writing skills.
  • Good teamwork skills, collaborative spirit, adaptability and communicative personality.
