Die Sektion dient dem Austausch zwischen Wissenschaftler*innen, die sich mit methodischen Aspekten politikwissenschaftlicher Forschung beschäftigen. Durch die Organisation von Tagungen, den Betrieb der Sektionshomepage und die regelmäßige Information der Sektionsmitglieder fördert sie die Vernetzung der beteiligten Wissenschaftler*innen und setzt sich für die Weiterentwicklung des Teilgebiets in Forschung und Lehre ein. Die Sektion ist darüber hinaus Mitgliedsgesellschaft der Deutschen Arbeitsgemeinschaft Statistik (DAGStat).
The Section "Methods of Political Science" facilitates the exchange between scholars who deal with methodological aspects of political science research. Through the organization of conferences, the operation of the Section's homepage and the regular information of the Section's members, it promotes the networking of the participating scholars and is committed to the further development of the subfield in research and teaching. The Section is also a member society of the German Statistical Association (DAGStat).
